There is no doubt that the new social e-Commerce has emerged and taken its place at the forefront in terms of doing business the modern way. Some archaic practices are being sidelined by business people from all corners of the globe with the sole intention of deriving as much revenue as possible using social media platforms. There are several social media possibilities which are working together to empower e-Commerce and help drive it to the next level. Retailers are left with no choice other than to look for ways in which to remain relevant with the changing times and business landscape.

Most modern firms already have an online presence and this enables them to migrate to the use of social media with relative ease. Being present on the Internet is not just about having a website, but it entails much more than that. The website needs to employ some SEO principles to ensure that it is able to attract huge online traffic with the intention and hope that this will be turned into clients, who purchase the products and services offered by the business. In order to lend a helping hand, social media platforms are incorporated into the equation.

It is best that social media be combined with e-Commerce in its traditional sense or format for maximum benefits to be derived. An example is where a like button is featured on a company website through which people can share the information with the social media or network contacts. If this button can have a direct link with the option which enables customers to make orders directly from their social media networks. At times, some firms appear to place more emphasis on capturing social media users and directing them to the website or online store.

It is also appropriate that firms know how to take existing customers from its online store, and helping to direct them towards the use of the company social media network. This leads to more connections with the customers friends and eventually contributes to the spreading of the message about the brand and the services it provides.

It is also recommended that the social media icon be placed on the top of the company website so that customers can see it the moment they go online. If it is placed anywhere else, such as further down the page, it could lead to disinterest on the part of the clients as they feel inconvenienced at having to scroll further down the page than they wish. A mistake which some firms make is to include the social media icon only on home page, and nowhere else. This is wrong. The best practice is to ensure that the icon appears on every page of the company website.

Social Media is an integral part of the new social e-Commerce. All the tools and features of the social media can and should be utilized properly so as to help a business stay viable on the commercial front with respect to pulling in new customers, making sales and enjoying higher levels of profitability. The safety of your website should be given priority because rarely will customers continue to sample what a company offers online if they feel that their security will be compromised.
